What Is a Walt Disney World Magic Ticket?

UK Disney Magic Tickets are exclusive date-based tickets for guests from the UK and Ireland giving access to the 4 main theme parks, and 2 water parks, with other exclusive benefits.

UK Magic Tickets are designed for longer stays, but you cannot pay to add extra days. Park reservations are not needed, and you can visit any park on any day within your validity window.

2 Tickets To Choose From

There are only two Magic Ticket options to choose from:

  • A 7-day Magic Ticket

  • A 14-day Magic Ticket

Both ticket options offer the same perks. The only difference between tickets is the duration, not what’s included.

What exactly is included with 7 & 14 day Magic Tickets?

A Disney Magic Ticket includes far more than just entry to the Disney parks on your Orlando holiday. There are essentially 6 perks that a Disney Magic Ticket offers, that you pay extra for when buying tickets in the US.

Here is what is included, and what you wish was, but sadly isn’t:

Feature

Disney UK Magic Tickets

Notes for UK Guests

4 Disney Theme Parks

✅ Unlimited entry on days within validity window

Park hop as many times a day as you like at any times.

Water Parks

✅ Included

Access does not use a theme-park day if you skip the four main parks that day.

Park Hopper

✅ Included

Visit multiple parks on the same day.

Memory Maker

✅ Included

Unlimited PhotoPass pictures to download for 45 days from date picture is taken.

Mini Golf

✅ Included

One round per day

Lightning Lane

❌ Not included

Paid skip-the-queue product. Buy in the app if you want it.

Dining Plan

❌ Not included

Theme park entry and Park Hopper

Magic Tickets include entry to all four Walt Disney World theme parks for 7 or 14 days:

  • Magic Kingdom

  • EPCOT

  • Disney's Hollywood Studios

  • Disney's Animal Kingdom

You can enter, leave, and re-enter parks as many times as you like on each of your 7 or 14 days. In the US, this is known as park hopping and is a ticket add-on. For UK visitors its included as part of your ticket. To find out how to get the most of the Magic Ticket park hopping perk head to Park Hopping At Disney World: Why A Park Hopping Strategy Maximises Your Day

Is water park entry included with Magic Tickets?

The UK Magic Ticket includes 7 or 14 days of entry to Disney water parks:

  • Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

  • Disney's Blizzard Beach

The hidden bonus about water park visits is that entry does not count as one of your main park days. You are allocated 7 or 14 theme park days and 7 or 14 water park days to use within the ticket validity window. This gives UK guests even more value, as water park rest days don’t affect theme park days. For example you could visit a water park for 2 days and still have 14 days in the theme parks.

Memory Maker

Memory Maker is the part of the Magic Ticket which gives you access to Photo Pass pictures. This means that you can get free pictures of your trip. This gives you:

  • All on-ride photos

  • Photos with some characters at certain locations

  • Photos taken by Disney photographers around the parks (these are the cast members in the green shirts)

  • Access to Magic Shots which is when a character or Disney image is inserted into your picture.

For UK visitors this adds lots of value to your holiday. To read more on how to get the most from this head to Memory Maker: how to use the free UK Magic Ticket perk.

Sport, Golf & Extras

While the parks get all the attention, the sport and golf extras are worth doing. Both 7 and 14 Day Magic Tickets include:

Activity

Location

Small Print Usage Rules

9-hole golf

Oak Trail Golf Course

Green fees are included for the 9-hole walking course, but you have to adhere to tee off times and book in advance. You also need to pay to rent your clubs as this is not included in the cost.

Mini Golf

Winter Summerland OR Fantasia Gardens

Includes 1 game a day at either location. You have to begin your game of mini golf before 4pm for it to be free, otherwise you will be charged full price to play.

Sports Complex

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

Include entry for standard events, not separately ticketed events.

While these activities aren’t the reason you head to Disney World, they do add genuine value to your ticket if you want a slower paced rest day or break away from the parks.

Magic Ticket Usage Windows

Magic Tickets are date-based tickets. This means when you buy, you choose a start date. Your start date is the first date your ticket is valid from. Your ticket is not valid from the first day you enter the parks.

Your ticket is then valid for a set window of days, during which you can use your park entries in any order you like. This is your validity window, which you can explore more in validity windows explained: planning itineraries with 7 & 14 day Magic Tickets.

Here are the usage windows for the two UK and Ireland Magic Ticket options:

  1. The 14-Day Magic Ticket: 14 days of park entry within an 18 day period that begins from the date you stated when you bought your ticket

  2. The 7-Day Magic Ticket: 7 days of park entry within a 15 day period that begins from the date you stated when you bought your ticket

7-Day vs 14-Day Magic Ticket: Which Should You Choose?

This is a question many people face when buying a Magic Ticket from the UK, as you often find that the 14-day ticket costs less than the 7-day ticket. You can find deals on our current Disney World holiday and Magic Ticket deals page.

You’ll find that the price difference between the tickets is small, even when there isn’t an offer on, which makes it tempting for many people to buy the 14-day option and enjoy the option of being able to dip into Disney parks for more than 7 days.

The value of a 7-day or a 14-day ticket is ultimately one you have to decide, but the flexibility the 14 day ticket offers for stays of more than 10 days is often something UK visitors to Disney want.

The US / UK Ticket Difference

US guests typically buy their tickets for a shorter trip and in comparison to the UK Magic Ticket they're complex, and more restrictive. The Walt Disney World Magic Ticket is a UK-exclusive, flat-rate ticket designed specifically for longer holidays of 7 or 14 days. Bundling almost everything you'll want to do at Walt Disney World resort into one simple price with no add-ons that change the price, it’s tailored for holidays from the UK.

If you are visiting Walt Disney World from the UK, this is the ticket you want if you want to tour the parks and spend more than 4 days in Disney World. It is significantly better value than on the gate prices at Disney World. If you’re interested in the price difference or thinking of buying on the gate because you don’t need 7 or 14 days entry read the cost of a UK Magic Ticket Vs buying Disney park tickets on the gate. The cost difference will surprise you.

Magic Ticket Pricing & Value

Magic Ticket cost varies by season which means the cost changes throughout the year. And that’s before you add in any offers. With that said there are some general rules of thumb:

  • There are two types of ticket: adult and child:

    • Adult tickets are for age 10+

    • Child tickets are age 3-9

    • Children aged 2 and under go free

  • Tickets pricing varies and is separated into three key seasons: low, regular, and peak.

The cheapest time to buy a Magic Ticket may actually surprise some people as Disney ticket seasons have their own unique patterns driven by predicted crowd levels in the parks. Can you buy Magic Tickets in Orlando?

No, you cannot buy your Magic Ticket while you are on holiday in Orlando. You need to buy your Magic Ticket in the UK before you leave for your Disney World trip. If you head off without your ticket you’ll have to spend more on the gate, and you won’t have the 7 or 14 day option, the longest in the US is around 5 days. That’s not ideal for a two week trip.

Using Magic Tickets

Magic Tickets are not posted to your address and you don’t need a physical card. You’ll get proof of your ticket purchase in an email and you’ll then be able to link it to your My Disney Experience App, There are a few other optional steps you can take to link your device to other apps or items to add to your experience:

If you want a plastic card ticket, that is still possible and you can collect them from guest services at the front of the parks, or at hotel reception if you stay on-site and have booked a package directly with Disney.

Lightning Lane And Magic Tickets

Magic Tickets do not include Lightning Lanes. You can buy Lightning Lanes after you have your Magic Ticket, (or other park ticket). Lightning Lanes will help you to skip long wait times by using a specifically designated Lightning Lane for rides, but it will cost more and the value is something each UK visitor will need to consider. If you do choose to buy Lightning Lanes you need to use a strategy that works with the Magic Ticket which is what we explore in why UK Magic Tickets change your lightning lane strategy.

Should You Buy A Magic Ticket?

For UK visitors, the Walt Disney World Magic Ticket isn't just the best option; it's the only option that truly makes sense for the majority of people. It's simple, flexible, and packed with value, letting you focus on enjoying your holiday rather than counting park day

However, if you are lucky enough to be visiting Orlando on holiday more than 3 times a year and will be spending time in Walt Disney World an annual pass is probably your best option. Our guide to buying a Walt Disney World annual pass as a UK resident helps you decide if it’s worth it, with a calculator and discusses the only UK option for everyone.

Discounts, Offers, and ways to save

Magic Ticket offers are possible, and throughout the year The Walt Disney World Travel Company, Disney’s direct vendor in the UK, share different offers that make the Magic Ticket even better value. Third party vendors including Attraction Tickets also have offers on throughout the year.

Combo-tickets are also sold by UK vendors which may offer greater overall savings if you plan on a split stay holiday or visiting Universal or other attractions during your trip. It’s always best to cost them out to get the best value.

A way to save no matter when you book is to check if you are flying near a change in season. Shifting your entry by a few days can save £100’s on tickets.
