It is cheaper to buy a UK Magic Ticket rather than a US ticket on the gate if you plan to spend 4 or more days in Disney World Parks no matter which on the gate ticket type you buy when you add the cost of Memory Maker. Even without Memory Maker, on-the-gate tickets still break even with UK Magic Tickets at the 4-5 days entry point.

In this guide we’ll look at when its worth buying an on the gate ticket in the US and when it isn’t. Through a price comparison of the three most useful on-the-gate ticket options for UK visitors, you’ll find prices but also the break even point where it becomes cheaper to buy the Magic Ticket.

If you only want a one day visit to Disney World during your Florida holiday from the UK the Magic Ticket isn’t cost effective, and on the gate prices, or even heading to a seasonal ticketed event is the cheaper option.

Why Magic Tickets Offer Value On Short Visits

While the cost of a UK Magic Ticket is high, the on the gate US cost is structured and priced differently. US tickets charge for entry only; to get the benefits included in UK Magic tickets you pay more. This is why Magic Tickets break even after just a few days in the parks.

The extra benefits of:

  • mini-golf,

  • water park entry,

  • park hopping

are all charged as upsells on US tickets sold on the gate. Missing out on extras, such as park hopping, to get a cheaper on the gate ticket can impact the amount of Disney World you get to explore in a day. To learn more about why park hopping is such a helpful Magic Ticket benefit read park hopping at Disney World: why a park hopping strategy maximises your day.

Buying on the gate: US Ticket options

US on the gate Disney World park tickets are separated into 4 options. Pricing is dynamic, varying daily. Buying on the gate also incurs a premium when you buy tickets for 3 or more days of entry. This is $21.30 (£15.66) per person.

The four US ticket types that can be bought on the gate are:

  • Base tickets: give entry to one park for between one and five days.

  • Park Hopper tickets: so you can visit more than one park in a day

  • Water parks and sports: so you can visit the water parks and sports areas during the day

  • Park Hopper Plus: gives you the water parks and sports access AND the ability to go to more than one park in a day.

For most UK visitors buying on the gate, the Water parks and sports option isn’t a consideration. If it is needed, the Park Hopper Plus option is normally a better choice.

Do US Disney World tickets include Memory Maker?

No, standard US Walt Disney World ticket options bought at the gate or through the US Disney website do not usually include Memory Maker. Memory Maker is normally purchased separately and costs an extra $169 (£124.26) on top of on-the -gate ticket prices no matter how long you stay.

However, UK and Ireland guests buying a 7-Day or 14-Day Disney Magic Ticket usually get Memory Maker included with adult tickets, making these tickets better value if you want Disney Photo Pass downloads included.

UK Magic Ticket vs US on the gate tickets: break even price point 2026

On paper, if you are assessing this from a cost only perspective and not factoring in the extra experiences, here are the break even points by price for the 3 best on the gate ticket options for UK visitors:

On the gate Ticket

US ticket price range

14-Day Magic Ticket price

5 1 Day Base Tickets

$591.05 (£434.60) - $891.89 (£655.80)

£545 - £737.22

5 Day Park Hopper ticket

$681.58 (£501.16) - $1,003.72 (£738.03)

£545 - £737.22

5 Day Park Hopper Plus ticket

$714.06 (£525.04) - $1,022.36 (£751.74)

£545 - £737.22

At 5 days in the park there is a chance you will save buying on-the-gate with a base ticket, Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus Ticket. There is however a risk of tickets selling out for any buy-on-the-gate option.

For most of the year it is cheaper to buy a Magic Ticket rather than any on the gate ticket for 4 or more days in a Disney Park no matter when you visit. Take a look at more prices below.

If you are budget conscious head to the cheapest dates to go to Disney World from the UK with a UK Magic Ticket.

The price you see is not the price you pay

When you buy tickets on the gate in the US the price you see on the board is not the amount you will pay at the till. This is because in Florida, sales tax is added to the price you are shown. When buying tickets on the gate, this is 6.5%.

That means your tickets are 6.5% more expensive than the price you see. You can use our sales tax calculator to work out exact prices.

We include sales tax in our calculations for the price comparisons you find on this page.

1 Day, 1 Park Base Ticket Vs Disney UK Magic Ticket

A one day US on the gate base ticket gives entry to one park and nothing more. You can go in and out of the one park as many times as you like for that one day on your dated ticket. Here is how the ticket benefits of a UK Magic Ticket stack up against the US 1 day base ticket:

Ticket Feature

1 Day 1 Park Base Ticket

UK Magic Ticket 7 & 14 Day Tickets

Entry to a Disney Park

Park Hopper

Memory Maker / Photo Pass

Water Park entry

If you want to explore one park only, the benefit a UK visitor could miss using is Memory Maker.

US On The Gate Base Ticket Prices

Buying your ticket on the day for entry that day to one park will cost within the following price ranges in 2026:

Park and ticket type

Price Range 2026 Adults (with tax) - What you pay

Price Range 2026 Children (with tax) - What you pay

Magic Kingdom: 1 day base ticket

$148.03 (£108.85) - $222.58 (£163.66)

$142.71 (£104.93) - $211.93 (£155.83)

EPCOT: 1 day base ticket

$137.38 (£101.01) - $222.58 (£163.66)

$127.06 (£93.43) - $201.28 (£148)

Hollywood Studios: 1 day base ticket

$148.03 (£108.85) - $217.26 (£159.75)

$144.84 (£106.50) - $206.61 (£151.92)

Animal Kingdom: 1 day base ticket

$126.73 (£93.18) - $196.96 (£144.82)

$126.73 (£93.18) - $185.31 (£136.26)

When is it cheaper to buy a base ticket or a Magic Ticket?

It is cheaper to buy 4 one day base tickets, buying on the day you visit each park, than it is to buy a Magic Ticket at any time of year. Here’s the maths

Number of days

US Base Ticket on-the-gate price (adult)

7-Day Magic Ticket Price (adult)

14-Day Magic Ticket Price (adult)

4 days: 1 park per day using base ticket bought daily

$560.17 (£411.89) - $859.38 (£631.90)

£522.31- £705.93

£545 - £737.22

5 days in any park

$591.05 (£434.60) - $891.89 (£655.80)

£522.31- £705.93

£545 - £737.22

6 days in any park

$616.71 (£453.46) - $951.12 (£699.35)

£522.31- £705.93

£545 - £737.22

It is cheaper to buy base tickets if you just want 4, 5 or 6 days doing a full day in each park on some dates, but you will loose out on the Magic Ticket benefits. For most of the year during mid-season it is cheaper to buy a 7-Day Magic Ticket. Although it is cheaper to buy on the gate for all Christmas and high season dates, it is possible you would not get tickets on that gate for these dates.

Magic Tickets offer UK visitors peace of mind and guaranteed entry, which buying on the gate does not. The value of Magic Ticket benefits is also something to consider.

  • Do you want to visit more than one park a day?

  • Do you want pictures of your day included?

  • Do you want to go to a water park for the day?

While we show accurate exchange rates and include sales tax in our comparisons here, when you are looking at the price on the screen you need to add the tax on and factor in the exchange rate your bank charges.

When Is It Cheaper To Buy A Magic Ticket?

It is cheaper to buy a Magic Ticket if you plan to spend four days or more in Disney theme parks and also want:

  • to experience Disney Water Parks

  • to get photos taken and have them to keep forever

  • play a game of mini golf or short round of golf

  • to be able to go to any park on any day as many times as  you like
